Private Psychiatric Care for International Patients
Patients living outside the United States may request private psychiatric consultation with Christian S. Monsalve, M.D., a board-certified psychiatrist and Founder & Medical Director of Verigrate Health. Eligible patients may receive care by telemedicine while physically located in a U.S. state where Dr. Monsalve is licensed, subject to clinical appropriateness, applicable law, and practice policy.
International patients do not necessarily need to travel to a Verigrate office. Dallas is the principal office, with select in-person consultation available in New York City and Miami by prior arrangement. Consultation is available directly in English and Spanish.

International access is structured around the patient’s physical location, the clinical question, applicable law, and whether telemedicine or a select in-person consultation is appropriate.
Telepsychiatry While in the United States
International patients may potentially receive care by secure telemedicine while physically located in one of the 43 U.S. states where Dr. Monsalve is licensed. Patient location at the time of the appointment matters.
In-Person or Focused Second Opinion
The principal office is in Dallas, with select appointments in New York City and Miami. Patients may also request an independent review of diagnosis, medications, previous treatment, or another consequential psychiatric question.
Clinical Reasons to Seek Consultation
Specialized review for consequential psychiatric decisions
Consultation may address diagnosis, treatment history, medication burden, adverse effects, tapering, deprescribing, or a complex regimen. The starting point is careful clinical judgment rather than an assumption that treatment should increase or decrease.
Diagnostic Clarification
Reassessment when competing diagnoses, incomplete explanations, or a complicated treatment history warrant closer review.
Psychiatric Second Opinion
An independent review of diagnosis, medications, previous treatment, or another consequential clinical question.
Complex Psychopharmacology
Review of treatment response, adverse effects, sequencing, interactions, and reasonable medication alternatives.
Medication Tapering and Deprescribing
Individualized consideration of antidepressants, antipsychotics, mood stabilizers, anticonvulsants used psychiatrically, off-label medications, and other medications when clinically appropriate.
Psychiatric Polypharmacy Review
Evaluation of how the entire regimen fits together, including whether medications should remain unchanged, be adjusted, or be simplified sequentially.
English and Spanish Consultation
Dr. Monsalve conducts consultation directly in English and Spanish, allowing patients and families to discuss complex history, medication decisions, and treatment goals without relying on an interpreter.
Cross-Border Clinical Boundaries
Physical location determines what care may be provided.
U.S. medical licensure does not automatically authorize telemedicine when a patient is physically located in another country. Any care after a patient returns abroad depends on physical location, applicable law, licensure, prescribing rules, clinical appropriateness, malpractice coverage, and practice policy.
A necessary limitation
International consultation does not imply unrestricted cross-border treatment or prescribing. When advisory consultation is appropriate, local clinicians may remain responsible for prescribing, monitoring, and implementation.

The process begins with a focused clinical question and a review of fit. If telemedicine is contemplated, the patient’s U.S. location is confirmed before scheduling. Every consultation is conducted directly by Christian S. Monsalve, M.D.

Relevant history or records may be reviewed, followed by confirmation of the U.S. jurisdiction for telemedicine or an appropriate in-person setting.

Meet directly with Dr. Monsalve to discuss findings, recommendations, and whether additional care is clinically and legally appropriate.
